Format Phylosophy

TEDH Commander is a multiplayer tournament format.

It introduces a points system to EDH that reduces the impact of politics on the game balancing the power level game by game and preserving healthy social interactivity.

The Commander format must be fun for everyone.

The rules of TEDH Commander are designed to balance the power of the decks, giving all players the opportunity to have fun playing with more and more people.

TEDH Commander prefers to be conservative.

TEDH Commander uses the official ban list for Commander format released by Wizard of the Coast and doesn’t add any ban lists to the official list. It seeks to exclude cards that threaten the positive player experience at the core of the format or prevent players from exercising reasonable self-expression. The primary focus of the ban list is on cards that are problematic because of their extreme consistency, ubiquity, and/or ability to restrict others’ opportunities.

The format can be broken, but games are more fun if the format is hard to break.

Commander players often become emotionally attached to their decks through play and personalization, and we value that experience highly and find it sad to disrupt that bond when it isn’t necessary. TEDH does not intend to introduce additional bans or restrictions other than those provided by Wizard of the Coast for the Commander Multiplayer format. In order to balance the power level and maintain diversity, vitality, and fun in TEDH tournaments, it introduces some additional systems like Exhaustion Levels.

Try it to make the challenge more interesting.

The EXHAUSTION LEVELS are an additional rule system made to make the tournament more interesting for competitive players and more enjoyable for casual players at the same time.

Good Game!
